I am Captain Karl and I love the water, boating, and maps.
When I put my boat "MARTINI" in Brunelle's Marina on
the Connecticut River in South Hadley, MA, I realized
there was a need for a detailed guide to this wonderful
river. I have spent the last six years researching the river
and surrounding area to create these six guides. I hope
you find them helpful in getting to know the river better.
For anyone who has boated in the Phoenix, Arizona
area, I created a series of seven maps entitled
"BOATING AND SPORTSMAN'S GUIDES". The
maps were published during the early 1980's and
are still sold today. The lakes include Lake
Pleasant, Saguaro Lake, Canyon Lake, Apache
Lake, Roosevelt Lake, Horseshoe Lake and Bartlett
Lake.
This is me in my favorite position, at
the helm of a schooner. The boat
is the Ernestina out of New Bedford,
MA. She is a great vessel with a
rich history doing Grand Banks
fishing, Arctic expeditions, Cape
Verde trade routes, and as an
educational platform. For more
information about the Ernestina

Here is my research vessel MARTINI at
a transient dock in Rockport, MA. It is
a Key West 2020 with a Yamaha 115.
MARTINI is named after my grandson,
Martin (mar-teen). She was not
purchased as a research vessel, but
as soon as I realized the river needed
a map, she became a research vessel.
She has also been to Long Island
Sound, Montauk Point and Great
South Bay, the Erie Canal to Lake
Ontario, and the Champlain Canal to
Crown Point.
As you can see I started boating at a
young age. I built my second boat at
15 and have had numerous power
and sail boats. Most of my boating
was done around Long Island Sound
although for five years I spent a lot of
time on Arizona lakes.
