Route 123 bridge crossing.
The water is deep under the
bridge but becomes shallow
with islands and some rocks
above and below the bridge.

There is a lot of wildlife along
the river.  Here a fawn was
walking along the river edge
in the mid morning.

Clouds and nice reflections
on the other nice day I had
while doing the research.  I
was on the river with Martini
for 12 days in early July.

The Marina on the West
River.  The Route 5 bridge is
at lower right.  Docks and a
restaurant are available.
Easy access from Ct River.

Just below the Riverview
Cafe there is a gravel ledge.
The old truss bridge is
downriver in about 20 to 30
feet of water.

Old train bridge has not been
used since the flood of 1927.
 Deep water is under the
bridge.

Prospect Street  ramp is at
left.  Access to the river is
under the bridge at right.
See photo at right for bridge.

The river and flooded fields
in Hinsdale.  When the dam
was built the higher water
inundated many fields
causing lots of weeds to
grow in the shallow areas.

A stunningly beautiful day on
the river.  No wind, glass
smooth and plenty of sun to
make research fun.

The north end of Dunshee
Island is very shallow.  Great
for paddlers but not good for
power boats.

The U.S.N. SeaBees
bridges.  The older bridge is
a walkiing trail, the newer
one is route 9.  The gets
quite deep under the bridge.

Norm's Marina on the New
Hampshire shore opposite
Brattleboro.  Launch ramp,
docks, and gas available.

Island Park Shoals is all that
is left of a major island with
facilities for summer fun.
The 1927 flood washed it
away.

More typical of the weather I
experienced.  Nonstop rain
for days, sometimes so hard
I could not see shore.

The bridge that boaters have
to go through to get from the
Prospect Street Ramp to the
river. Duck!!

The Vernon Dam with power
station. The take out is at
upper center and the put in
at upper left.

Pine Street launch area
from the west.  Water is
deep enough to launch
power boats.  Channel is in
center of the tributary.
The Pine Street Launch
ramp is paved with a
floating dock.  This is  the
take out point for paddlers
going around Bellows Falls.
